Terrible Towel In Ecuador
Video from Tingo Pucará
This video was made by our own Mark Barlow on the last implementation trip.
Beginning of the Last Implementation Trip
Craig, Bob, and Mark traveled from Pittsburgh to Quito. The flight left at 11:45 AM and arrived 11:00 PM. There was no time change. Raul Espinosa picked them up at the Quito airport and took them to the Hotel La Villa, where they stayed for $40.00 each.

Article: Sustainable Water Quality for Rural Ecuadorian Communities
Click here to read an article from Bruce Rydbeck, the head engineer of HCJBs work in Ecuador. HCJB is a local NGO that has been helping us with our work in Ecuador. The article is interesting, and talks about the long time water quality sustainability of intake designs identical to the one we used in Tingo Pucará.
Tingo Project Contributes to Published Article
Dan Budny and Rob Gradoville Jr. have published an article based on Pitt’s senior design projects in Tingo Pucará. Read it here.
Update from George
George Beane sent us an update on the storage tank construction and the electrical line status today. The main tank structure has been completed and is looking great.
Many of the supplies for the pipeline were recently delivered. The community received 120 incorrect stainless steel unions from the supplier, but the supplier has agreed that it was a mistake and will be delivering the correct unions soon.
We are still waiting for the electrical utility company to run electricity to the pump house, but George has made contact with the company, and this work will be started soon.
End of the Second Implementation Trip
Bob and Steve arrived in Pittsburgh in the morning. Barb checked out of the hostel and flew to Pittsburgh via Miami, experiencing no flight delays, and arrived safely in Pittsburgh the following Monday.
